About
Imperial College London is founded on the principle that research, teaching and industrial practice interact and generate benefits for all.
When researchers hear from businesses, they learn about problems for industry that may be solvable through research; when businesses meet researchers they may discover new ways of thinking that challenge their assumptions and prompt them to do things better. Entrepreneurship is an essential element of this mix, and Imperial has worked hard over the past decade and more to help staff and students with ambitions to start companies and support them in a professional and purposeful way.
We know from long experience that successful entrepreneurship requires ongoing conversations between company founders, investors and industry. That’s why the Imperial actively supports start-up companies to raise funds via its own networks and signposting to the wider investment community gains.
As a measure of our success in this area start-ups founded by Imperial staff and students have attracted approximately £1 billion of new investment in the past five years, supporting 1,300 jobs.
