The next event in our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) Series on 14 October, will celebrate Black History Month.
An integral part of UK Private Capital's mission is to promote diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) within our industry and support firms to build diverse workforce and inclusive workplaces where everyone can thrive.
We advocate for greater levels of diverse representation within our industry, particularly at senior levels. As the private capital industry association, we use our convening power and profile to champion and actively encourage diversity and inclusion within industry. The DE&I event series is one way UK Private Capital seeks to promote DE&I within our industry.

Speakers
Hind Jbala
Hind Jbala is a Research Manager at UK Private Capital, where she has worked for over four years. She manages the association's studies on the diversity, equity and inclusion of the private capital industry, looking at the demographics of the workforce of Limited Partners (LPs) and General Partners (GPs). She co-leads the LPs chapter of the Investing in Women Code, supporting the industry's efforts to improve gender diversity in investment. Alongside this, Hind's work spans investment activity and ESG research across the industry.
Rodney Appiah
Rodney Appiah is the Managing Partner of Cornerstone VC, an early stage fund focused on a ‘people first’ investment approach. Investing at pre-seed and seed, Cornerstone VC is focused on UK tech companies led by diverse teams building in the areas of Health & Sustainability, Future of Work and Social. Prior to founding Cornerstone VC, Rodney held roles at BGF, Foresight Group and Merrill Lynch and has more than 15 years of financial services, TMT and Consumer experience across UK and Europe. An experienced board director, Rodney serves as an NED for the UK Business Angels Association (UKBAA), the largest UK trade body for angel and early stage investing and Conduit Connect, a direct investment platform that focuses on connecting global high impact businesses with mission aligned investors. Additionally, he is a committee member of Innovate UK (Innovation Loans).
Maxime Nemorin
Maxime Nemorin is Vice President, Distribution Oversight at ICG in Luxembourg, where he oversees regulatory matters relating to the firm’s distribution and marketing activities. He has over a decade of experience in financial services and private markets, with an international career spanning Luxembourg, France and Portugal.
Maxime is also Co-Chair of ICG’s UNIFY employee network, supporting the firm’s focus on ethnic, cultural and religious diversity, inclusion and belonging. Of French Caribbean heritage, he is passionate about representation, creating opportunities for diverse talent and fostering a more inclusive financial services industry.
William Thompson
William Thompson joined HarbourVest in 2019 and focuses on analyzing, structuring, and monitoring secondary private equity opportunities, including traditional and complex transactions.
William joined the Firm from Goldman Sachs, where he was most recently an executive director in the Investment Banking division focused on mergers and acquisitions in the healthcare sector.
Prior to this, he was a senior analyst in the Healthcare Investment Banking division at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey.
William received a BS (with distinction) in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2008, where he received the Walter S. Spearman Chancellor’s Award for achievement in scholarship, leadership, and character.
