Balderton was founded in 2000 by Benchmark Capital, the leading US Silicon Valley venture firm. Balderton formally became an independent firm in 2007. The bulk of their capital comes from university endowments, charitable foundations and pension funds. Their most recent fund, Balderton V, was raised in April 2014. Balderton invests between $1 million to $20 million into companies with the potential to disrupt huge industries, and the ambition to scale globally.

Balderton's aim is to help build long-lasting, disruptive and ultimately profitable companies. Balderton manages approximately £1.3 billion in committed venture capital.
