This two-day course provides finance professionals with a comprehensive introduction to the core financial principles underpinning private capital. Please arrive with plenty of time to register. Breakfast will be provided along with lunch and refreshments, with a drinks reception at the end of day 1. The course will kick off with introductions, followed by content from multiple speakers as per the agenda.

Course Director
Andre has delivered courses for banks around the world in the areas of Credit, Corporate Finance, Private Equity, Valuation and Financial Modelling. Andre qualified as a Chartered Accountant, completing articles with PricewaterhouseCoopers.
He started his career with a subsidiary of Commercial Union, involved in the steel manufacturing industry. His experience ranged from systems implementation, credit assessment of the highly risky construction industry customers, heading up the finance functions to successfully turning the business around and then selling the company through a trade sale. He later joined Commercial Union in the investment back-office function, reengineering the investment back-office and later headed up a team that implemented a new investment management system for both the back office and the front office. His career then spanned over 12 years in the Venture Capital and Private Equity arena, where he has gained a vast amount of experience in the corporate analysis and valuation field.
Andre is a specialist in developing and training finance-related courses, including corporate credit-related topics, financial modelling including valuations, leveraged buyouts and M&A, and accounting (with a focus on IFRS ) courses. His training experience spans a period of more than twenty years.

Associate Director, Aztec Group
Andy is an Associate Director at Aztec Group, having joined the business in July 2016, within the Private Equity department in Guernsey. Having left university, Andy previously worked at Northern Trust in Guernsey, where he spent 7 years administering Private Equity, Venture Capital, and Fund of Funds structures. Andy leads the administration, company secretarial and governance functions within Guernsey’s largest Private Equity team and has recently taken on the role of operational lead primarily to assist leading the adoption of processes and new technologies, sharing of best practise and improve operational efficiency within the business.
Andy actively contributes outside his day-to-day role as Chair or the Carbon Crushers Committee, building on Aztec’s sustainability agenda and Chair of the Senior Managers Forum. Andy holds a level 5 qualification in International Finance and Administration (ICSA) and also holds a BA (Hons) in Outdoor Adventure Management.

Charlotte is a Senior Manager in PwC’s London TMT Valuations team, specialising in the valuation of early-stage and high-growth technology businesses. She has extensive experience advising venture capital and private equity investors on portfolio valuations across Series A–D. Charlotte brings a strong international perspective from her roles in PwC’s Audit and Deals practices in New York, Silicon Valley, and London, where she supported clients through IPOs, acquisitions, and other complex transactions.
She provides valuation support for strategic decision-making, tax planning, and financial reporting, with a particular focus on the technology, media and telecommunications sector.

Associate Director, Deloitte
As an Associate Director within Deloitte's M&A tax group, Devan possesses significant expertise in UK and international tax, advising private equity clients through complex buy-side and sell-side transactions across various sectors and asset classes. His specialisation includes tax structuring, tax due diligence, and deal execution. Complementing his advisory role, Devan has also gained invaluable in-house experience at a Private Equity House/Family Office, where he was responsible for leading tax matters, managing M&A transactions, and resolving fund and portfolio-level issues.

Fraser is a Partner in Deloitte’s M&A tax group. He has over 16 years of experience in UK and international tax; working primarily with private equity houses. Fraser specialises in buy-side acquisition tax structuring and due diligence for private equity clients on domestic and multi-national transactions.
Fraser has also advised a number of leading private equity and alternative lenders on the tax consequences of their portfolio acquisitions, disposals and refinancings.

Kristen, an American expat from Texas, is a CPA by background. She currently focuses on strategy and growth within Deloitte UK’s Financial Services Tax & Legal business. Before moving to London in 2019, Kristen worked with private equity and high-net-worth (HNW) clients in Deloitte NYC's Investment Management US tax practice.

Matilda is a Director in the Financial Investors Indirect tax team at Deloitte. Matilda splits her time between supporting private equity clients with their UK VAT position (focusing on fund structuring, fixed establishment, VAT treatment of fund management services and partial exemption / VAT recovery) and advising on VAT issues associated with private equity transactions (leading from a VAT perspective on due diligence workstreams, transaction structuring and VAT recovery deal cost reviews).
Matilda joined Deloitte in 2016 after graduating from Durham University with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics. She is a Chartered Tax Adviser and a Chartered Accountant.

Matt Dickman is a London-based partner at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP who advises on the formation, management and reorganisation of private investment funds. He also regularly advises fund sponsors and investors on GP staking transactions, including internal reorganisations and internal economic and governance arrangements, as well as seed investments in emerging fund sponsors and secondary transactions. Mr. Dickman represents a broad range of international private equity and other private investment funds and their sponsors, including recent experience advising technology and venture capital funds.
Mr. Dickman first joined Debevoise as an associate in 2012. He later became a partner at an international law firm in its San Francisco office before returning to Debevoise in London in 2018. This international experience gives Mr. Dickman a broad perspective on the funds markets in both the U.S. and Europe.

Peter Parkes is counsel in the firm’s Business Law department and a member of its Private Equity and Private Investment Funds practice. Peter’s clients include investment managers across a range of strategies, including direct private equity and real estate clients. Peter advises on fund formation, fund restructuring, structuring investment management platforms and carried interest arrangements. Peter also deals with co-investment platforms and GP-led transactions. He has also advised clients who are looking to invest in fund products and continuation funds across a range of asset classes.
Prior to joining Goodwin, Peter was a legal associate at Patron Capital, a leading private equity real estate firm investing in Europe, where his work involved various real estate funds, co-investment funds and related carried interest arrangements. He also has experience in relation to various joint ventures and co-investment structures relating to commercial and hospitality platforms across Europe.

Rebecca is a Manager in the Financial Investors Indirect Tax team at Deloitte. Following an academic background in Law, Rebecca qualified as chartered accountant and chartered tax advisor in 2024. Having previously advised a range of clients in the Consumer Business and TMT sectors on their UK VAT position, Rebecca joined the Financial Investors team in 2022 and has since worked as a VAT specialist on M&A transactions. Rebecca also supports her private equity clients on their operation of VAT at the house level (including fund structuring, establishment and partial exemption) and day-to-day UK VAT matters for portfolio groups.

Tom Berry is a counsel based in the firm’s London office, and a member of the firm’s Corporate Department and Investment Management Group. Named as a key lawyer in The Legal 500 UK and a Rising Star by IFLR1000, Mr. Berry advises fund sponsors across a broad range of strategies (including buyout, debt, infrastructure and secondaries) on the formation, raising and operation of their investment funds, and on related carried interest and co-investment arrangements.
Mr. Berry is also a member of the firm’s Private Fund Transactions Group and advises on investments in GPs and secondary transactions, including sponsor-led restructurings and other liquidity solutions.
