Private Capital in Northern Ireland - Factsheet

UK Private Capital's (formerly the BVCA) Northern Ireland factsheet highlights the important contribution private capital makes towards the nation's economy and prosperity.

The factsheet reveals that private equity and venture capital firms invested £112m into businesses across Northern Ireland in 2022. This investment directly supports 45,000 jobs across Northern Ireland, equivalent to 2% of total UK jobs backed by private capital and a 20% increase since 2021.

Key findings for Northern Ireland include:

  • Of the companies supported, 42 received funding via venture capital in 2022.
  • Tech businesses received £58m in investment in 2022, across 25 companies.
  • 50 companies are backed by private equity and venture capital in Northern Ireland, 8 more than in 2021.
