Richard Swann appointed new Chair of the UK Private Capital Council

UK Private Capital (formerly the British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association) is pleased to announce Richard Swann as the Chair of Council, the association’s board of directors. Having been vice chair for the past year, Richard takes over at a time when the private capital industry plays an increasingly prominent and important role in the UK economy. The association is also delighted to announce that Dana Haimoff has been appointed to the role of Vice Chair.

Richard is a Partner at Inflexion and chairs the firm’s Investment Committee. He is also a member of Inflexion’s Executive Committee, Realisation Committee and Responsible Investment Steering Committee. He graduated with a degree in Biochemistry from the University of Birmingham and an MBA from the University of Warwick and was previously a partner with Deloitte and its predecessor firm Arthur Andersen.

Richard has been closely involved in UK Private Capital’s work to promote the industry for several years, having served on its Council since 2023. Throughout that time, he has helped to shape the association’s direction and priorities. In his role as Chair of the Council, Richard will support the next stage of UK Private Capital’s Strategy which reinforces the association as the home of all parts of the private capital community: Private equity, venture capital and private credit.

Richard takes over from outgoing Chair Matthew Sabben-Clare, who has held the position since April 2024 and has played a leading role in shaping the organisation for over a decade. While Chair, Matthew has overseen the development and implementation of a new, more ambitious strategy for the association, which focuses on augmenting and deepening its network of stakeholder relationships; and to support this, the adoption of the association’s new name - UK Private Capital - in January 2026.

Dana Haimoff is a Managing Director & Portfolio Manager at JP Morgan Asset Management where she is responsible for sourcing, due diligence and leading investment recommendations. In her role at JP Morgan, she is also responsible for monitoring private equity funds, co-investments and secondary opportunities.

Dana served as a member of UK Private Capital's LP Forum between 2016 and 2025, before joining the association’s Council in 2025. Dana is the co-founder of Level 20, a not-for-profit organisation set up to encourage women to succeed in the private equity industry. Prior to joining JP Morgan, she spent six years with Merrill Lynch working with alternative asset funds. Dana earned a BS from Skidmore College and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

On his appointment, Richard said:

“As the new Chair of UK Private Capital, I am delighted to have the opportunity to represent the industry, to tell the story of private capital’s huge economic and social contribution. I’d like to thank the outgoing Chair Matthew Sabben-Clare, who has played a key role in the association’s development at a time when the industry has become a more prominent part of the economy.

“We are an industry that makes a difference in the real economy. The 13,000 businesses backed by private capital often sit at the heart of communities and are responsible for supporting over 2.5 million jobs.”
