Biocomposites showcases leading medical device technology to Adam Jogee MP

Biocomposites, an international medical devices company that engineers, manufactures and markets leading products for use in infection management in bone and soft tissue, demonstrated its leading infection management technologies, STIMULAN and SYNICEM, to Adam Jogee MP, when he visited its headquarters last Friday, 1 May.

The visit, organised by UK Private Capital, highlighted how private capital has enabled Biocomposites to become a major exporter of world leading products for use in infection management in bone and soft tissue – thus helping support the local economy and the Exchequer.

Based in Keele, UK, Biocomposites has global operations across Europe, USA, Canada, China, India and South America. It sells directly to hospitals and through independent distributors, reaching more than 100 countries around the world. Its products are now used in over one million procedures per annum. In January 2026, Biocomposites was recognised in The Sunday Times’ ‘100 Tech 2026’ list of the UK’s fastest growing technology companies, 83% of which were backed by private capital.

During Mr. Jogee’s visit, Biocomposites demonstrated how support from TA Associates, which acquired a majority stake in the business in 2017, has accelerated its growth journey. Since the investment, Biocomposites has increased revenues threefold, expanded its geographic footprint, and evolved the company’s product line. Biocomposites has also completed two strategic acquisitions with the support of TA Associates, strengthening its international presence and access to additional markets.

Mike Harris, CEO of Biocomposites, showed Mr. Jogee STIMULAN – a calcium matrix approved to deliver combination antibiotics to resolve infection in bone and surrounding soft tissue – and SYNICEM, preformed antibiotic loaded spacers which use propriety polymer technology to aid in the treatment of infection in the hips, knees and shoulders.

Commenting on the visit, Adam Jogee, MP for Newcastle-under-Lyme, said:

“It was fantastic to visit Biocomposites in Keele to meet the team and see first-hand a truly innovative business with global reach rooted in Staffordshire. The support it has received from private capital, via TA Associates and Novo Holdings, has clearly played a vital role in accelerating its growth, expanding its footprint and creating skilled jobs locally.

“This is exactly the kind of success story we want to see more of in our region. Driving further investment into Staffordshire will be key to backing businesses like this to grow, innovate and deliver for our local economy.”

Mike Harris, CEO of Biocomposites, said:

We take great pride in our North Staffordshire heritage and from these roots have bult a global company that exports over 95% of the product it manufactures here. From startup 30 years ago, we have grown rapidly to now employ 180 people in the UK, and over 600 people globally. We are still headquartered in Keele, Staffordshire, and are investing over £10 million in our Keele site to support our next phase of growth.”

Research from UK Private Capital, the association for the private capital industry, shows that private equity and venture capital backed businesses headquartered in the West Midlands supported 173,000 jobs and contributed £11bn of GDP. In 2024 alone, private capital invested £466m into the region.

Michael Moore, UK Private Capital Chief Executive said:

“Biocomposites is a great example of a truly innovative business that has harnessed the power of private capital to support its growth journey.

“Private capital is a partner for economic growth, supporting jobs throughout the West Midlands and across the UK. Our industry backs the most innovative businesses supporting local economies in every nation and region.”
