Red Helix showcases cyber security expertise to Laura Kyrke-Smith MP

Red Helix, a Buckinghamshire-based leader in cyber security and network performance, showcased its work supporting UK businesses and critical infrastructure to Laura Kyrke-Smith MP when she visited the company’s headquarters in Aylesbury.

Red Helix has a 40-year heritage supporting UK businesses and infrastructure. Formerly Phoenix Datacom, the company has expanded to address the increasing cyber security needs of small and medium-sized businesses, providing 24/7/365 threat monitoring and enterprise-level technology that is affordable for smaller organisations.

LDC, part of Lloyds Banking Group, invested in Red Helix in 2021 to support the management team to expand the business’ suite of hardware and software products and related services, helping its customers further enhance their cyber security. LDC’s backing is also helping the team explore complementary acquisitions.

The visit was organised by UK Private Capital, giving Laura Kyrke-Smith MP the opportunity to meet the Red Helix team, tour its Security Operations Centre, and discuss the critical importance of cyber resilience for small and medium-sized businesses, as well as where government can do more to support the sector.

Data published by UK Private Capital shows that private capital-backed businesses in the South East support 342,000 jobs and generate £27bn of GDP for the regional economy. In 2025, 127 companies in the South East received private capital investment, with £1.2bn deployed into companies across the region, including £292 million of venture capital investment into 76 businesses.

Commenting on the visit, Laura Kyrke-Smith, MP for Aylesbury said:

“It was a pleasure to visit Red Helix and meet the team in Aylesbury. The company is a great example of the innovative businesses we have here in Buckinghamshire, creating great local jobs while playing a vital role in helping organisations across the UK strengthen their cyber security. It was valuable to hear first-hand about the opportunities and challenges facing the sector, and to discuss the important role that businesses like Red Helix play in supporting our economy and critical infrastructure.”

Commenting, Marion Stewart, CEO at Red Helix said:

“We were pleased to welcome Laura Kyrke-Smith to Red Helix and discuss the growing importance of cyber resilience for UK businesses and the wider economy. A strong cyber security sector is essential to the UK’s growth, protecting organisations, infrastructure and digital services. It was also valuable to talk about building local cyber talent and helping more young people develop the technical, communication and workplace skills needed to succeed in the sector.”

Commenting, UK Private Capital Chief Executive Michael Moore said:

“Red Helix is a strong example of how private capital supports ambitious businesses that are delivering essential services to the UK economy. LDC’s backing is helping the company invest in its technology, expand its services and support customers facing increasingly complex cyber security challenges.

“Private capital is a partner for economic growth, backing businesses across the South East and throughout the UK that create jobs, strengthen local economies and help tackle some of the most important challenges facing society.”
